This blog is maintained by Francesca Thornberry – a UK-based specialised independent consultant with 17 years’ experience of working in the thematic areas of human rights, labour rights, international development, the rights of local communities and indigenous peoples, and land and forest governance.

She has worked as a consultant since March 2015, sharing her experience and expertise with organisations working in the areas of human rights, labour law, international development, land and resources and the rights of local communities and indigenous peoples. She has 10 years’ experience in working at the international level for the International Labour Organization (ILO), and on various UN processes. Francesca has also worked with regional bodies wuch as the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and has experience of working in Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Philippines and the Republic of Congo. She also has extensive experience in legal and policy work and advocacy, programming and project cycle management, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, training and research.
